Q. 1. Why was Mr. Keesing annoyed with Anne ? What did he ask her to do?

Ans. Mr. Keesing taught Mathematics to the author’s class. He was annoyed with Anne. It was because she talked so much. He warned her several times. But she couldn’t stop talking. He even gave her extra home work. But still she talked and talked. After several warning he gave her an essay on “Chatterbox.”

Q. 2. How did Anne justify her being a chatterbox in her essay ?

Ans. In her essay she justified so by stating that talking was a student’s trait. She would do her best to cure herself of the habit. Her mother talked as much as she did if no more. Nothing could be done about inherited habits.

Q. 1. Was Anne right when she said that the world would not be interested in the musings of a thirteen-year-old girl ?

Ans.. No, Anne was not right. Her diary was published under the name “The Diary of a Young Girl’. It was translated from its original Dutch into many languages and it became one of the world’s most widely read books. There have also been several films, television and theatrical productions and even opera based on the diary. It was described as the work of a nature and insightful mind. It provides an intimate examination of life under Nazi occupation. Anne frank became one of the most reowned and discussed of the Holocaust victims.

Ans. Anne’s diary was originally written in Dutch. Her diary was a lot more personal than other diaries thus it is different in many aspects. She named her diary ‘Kitty’ and thought of it as her only true friend whom she could confide in. She treated it as another person who was listening her to her daily accounts. She wrote all her stories in it. She started by writing ‘Dearest Kitty and ended the account by writing, Yours, Anne’.

Ans. Anne gave a brief sketch of her family because it was hard to make others realize that a thirteen year old teenager could write loneliness. She treated ‘Kitty’ as her best friend and as an insider.

Ans. Mr. Kessing asked her to write an essay on the topic ‘A Chatterbox’ as punishment. In the essay she accepted the drawbacks of being talkative but argued that it was in her genes as her mother was also very talkative. It was difficult to give up the habit and also a student’s trait.
