Down in the South, The days are fine.
When January comes around.
But up in the North,
And in the hills and so forth,
January’s Lohri time.

नीचे दक्षिण में दिन अच्छे होते हैं जब जनवरी आती है। लेकिन ऊपर उत्तर में, पहाड़ों में और उसके आगे जनवरी लोहड़ी का समय होता हैं।
We gather up all twigs and leaves,
And wood of any sort,
Soon we have a great big pile
And in just a little while,
The flame will leap up high,
Leap right into the sky.

Nuts and sweetmeats make the ornaments,
Passing from hand to hand,
I think everyone will agree with me
We have lovely customs in our land.

मेवे और मिठाइयाँ सजाये जाते हैं, एक हाथ से दूसरे हाथ में घूमते हुए मेरा विचार है कि प्रत्येक व्यक्ति मुझसे सहमत होगा, हमारे देश में प्यारे रीति-रिवाज है। क्या नहीं हैं?
But Bonfires consume a lot of wood,
For the environment This is not so good.
The air gets polluted from all the smoke
so It’s a problem, folk?
अनुवाद-
लेकिन आग जलाने में बहुत-सी लकड़ी खर्च होती है, वातावरण के लिए, यह इतना अच्छा नहीं है।
हवा सारे धुएँ से प्रदूषित हो जाती है इसलिए यह लोगों द्वारा उत्पन्न एक समस्या है।

Lohri Yet there must be a better way,
To celebrate winter’s passing,
Now what do you have to say?”
“Let’s burn our hatred instead of wood,
And send it up in flames for good.”
अनुवाद-
मैं लोहड़ी को त्यागना नहीं चाहता हूँ तो भी इस उत्सव को मनाने का तरीका अच्छा होना चाहिए, जाती हुई शीत ऋतु को मनाने का, अब आपके पास क्या कहने को है? आओ, हम लकड़ी की बजाय अपनी घृणा को जला दें, और इसे लपटों के रूप में अच्छाई के लिए ऊपर भेजें।

Answer:
Holi is the festival of colours. The people express their happiness by throwing colours on their friends, relatives and neighbours. They make fun. They use dry and wet colours. Relating to the festival and season people are lost in singing songs. They feel happy by welcoming their friends with sweetmeats and tea or coffee or cold drink. Sugarcane fields look full of cheerfulness of the farmers who work there. Grain fields look very beautiful. Some people throw mud on one another and shout. Everyone small or big bears a smile on his face.

Collect pictures of some festivals celebrated in our country and paste them in your notebook.
